…Abduce reason why Ugya ward should be allowed to serve as Chairman

By our correspondent

Alhaji Abdullahi Kasim Ohizi, a prominent All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain and former president of Egbira Youth Movement, EYM, endorsed the existing zoning arrangement for Chairmanship seat initiated by former Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, citing its role in sustaining peace, development, and cohesion for Toto Local Government Area

Alhaji Kasim, who once vied for the Toto/Gadabuke constituency seat in the State House of Assembly, emphasized the need to rally behind Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, former Speaker and current Chairman of the governing council at Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, Yobe State, in appreciation of his visionary leadership, diligence, and notable achievements in spearheading development projects during his term.

He explained that his reason for withdrawing from the race was due to Toto ward’s existing leadership representation, having had multiple Chairmen and currently holding a Commissioner position. Moreover, he observed that Shafa Kwotto had a Chairman and two separate past Assembly members, while Shafa Abakpa has produced two House of Representatives members, Special Advisers, and now has a State House of Assembly member.

Alhaji Kasim Ohizi revealed that he initially considered running for Chairmanship but chose to withdraw in support of the area’s established zoning and sub-zoning structure.

He warned the Toto LG populace against being swayed by individuals whose only agenda is to spread lies and deceit.

He inquired as to why Ugya would not receive support and, to date, has yet to receive a satisfactory explanation, prompting his decision to endorse the former Speaker and Toto LG political leader’s efforts to maintain zoning and sub zoning arrangements in the area.

He observed that had the former Speaker been driven by self-interest, his loyalty would have lain with allies from Toto ward, including Kasim Ohizi, Vice Chairman Kwanakis, former council secretary Nuhu Ahere, and others, rather than opting for a more selfless decision.

He praised Hon Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, the outgoing Executive Chairman, for his impressive accomplishments, noting that he established a robust foundation for his successors to expand upon.

He rated Hon Tashas as a compassionate and magnanimous leader whose administrative style is uncommon.

He observed that continuity is a hallmark of Toto LG Chairmen, but Hon Tashas has distinguished himself as a leader of uncommon integrity by publicly undertaking to serve a single term and facilitate a smooth handover to his successor.

He expressed gratitude to Alhaji Abubakar Haruna Kwanakis, outgoing Vice Chairman of Toto LG, for holding the former Speaker in high esteem, assuring that Rt. Hon Balarabe’s track record of not disappointing supporters of Toto would justify his actions.

Alhaji Ohizi urged the three districts of Toto LG to unite in support of the zoning and sub-zoning initiative championed by former Speaker and political leader of Toto LG, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, to foster peace, growth, and development.
