ALIA ACTIVATES PLAN B TO REMOVE BENUE ASSEMBLY SPEAKER DAJOH
…..Governor set to use 5 lawmakers for impeachment
After his first attempt to impeach the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aondona Dajoh failed last week, Governor Hyacinth Alia has activated his plan B to achieve his mission and, barring any last-minute changes, Dajoh will be removed from office tomorrow (Monday 25th August, 2025).
Governor Alia has copied the style and strategy of his Rivers State counterpart, Governor Sim Fubara who was running the state with just four assembly members in gross violation of the law. Fubara denied 27 members their entitlements, salary, and allowances.
Alia has adopted the same despotic approach and is using five members of the Benue Assembly led by Alfred Emberga, the suspended member of the House representing Makurdi-North State Constituency.
The Governor has promised to make Emberga the new Speaker and is doing everything to accomplish his agenda.
Governor Alia is said to be afraid that if he allows Hon. Dajoh to remain as the Speaker, his position as governor won’t be guaranteed anymore because the Benue lawmakers have unearthed evidence of stinking corruption being perpetrated by the governor and some of his appointees.
The governor plans to use heavy security and the thugs he has empowered and armed, who go to town harassing people and chanting “No Alia, No Benue.” The thugs will be stationed in strategic positions tomorrow to stop any of the 27 legislators who are on the side of Speaker Dajoh.
The security personnel, on the other hand, will provide security to the Emberga-led group to impeach the Speaker and install the Makurdi-North representative as the new Speaker.
Reliable sources have it that the Governor met late last night at the Government House with a section of lawmakers and directed the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Lami Danladi Ogenyi, to convene a sitting tomorrow (Monday) with the sole agenda of impeaching the Speaker.
Another source confirmed that Governor Alia has solicited the assistance of some powerful traditional rulers in the state to influence the process of removing the Speaker in his favor. The Tor Tiv and the Ochi Idoma are the ones leading the moves to influence and convince more legislators to join the Alia faction of the divide. The two paramount rulers are said to have relocated to Makurdi and have been holding clandestine meetings, fully bankrolled by Governor Alia, to get the Speaker out of the way.
