Arewa Community in Delta Endorses Tinubu, Oborevwori for 2027 Re-election
The Arewa Community in Delta State has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for re-election in 2027. At a well-attended rally in Asaba, Delta State capital, the community praised both leaders for their leadership qualities, ongoing development projects, and inclusive governance.
They also formally announced their membership in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and urged fellow northerners across Nigeria to support the current administration through its second term ending in 2031.
In an address delivered by their leader and Chairman of the Delta State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Auwalu Tukur, the Arewa community acknowledged President Tinubu’s efforts in stabilizing Nigeria’s economy and strengthening national unity, stressing that his administration deserves a second term to consolidate its current progress.
“We want to pledge our absolute support and loyalty to the government of His Excellency Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement read.
At the state level, the community publicly declared its unwavering support and loyalty to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, commending his administration for its remarkable achievements in governance, development, and inclusivity. The Arewa community praised Oborevwori’s leadership, noting that under his watch, Delta has become the “fastest growing state in the entire West African Sub-Region.”
Governor Oborevwori was applauded for transforming Delta into what the community described as a “construction site,” highlighting the rapid infrastructure development and the inclusion of its members in key governmental roles, including appointments as Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, and Board Chairmen.
“We are most grateful to your administration,” the statement noted. “Many of our members have been appointed to various offices… we truly appreciate you because we have never had it this good.”
The community declared full support for Oborevwori’s re-election bid in 2027, affirming: “Where Sheriff goes, we go. We stand with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.”
In a strategic political message, the Arewa group urged northern Nigerians to rally behind Tinubu and exercise patience until 2031 before seeking another opportunity at the presidency. This, they said, would promote equity, national cohesion, and political stability.
The endorsement by the Arewa Community in Delta marks a significant political statement, aligning northern residents of the South-South state with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the federal level and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state—signaling a rare cross-party consensus ahead of the 2027 elections.
