Breaking News: Nigerian Army arrested applicants using Fake Certificates for Recruitment exercise
The Intelligence News have obtained a report indicating that some suspected nonindigenous of Lagos have been arrested for using Fake credentials during ongoing Nigerian Army Recruitment exercise in Lagos, Nigeria.
It was reported that the Nigerian Army (NA) has launched an investigation into a concerning incident where non-indigenous individuals attempted to secure slots designated for Lagos State in the ongoing 86 regular recruits intake.
In a viral video unveiling the identities of the suspected fraudulent candidates has surfaced on social media.
According to Army spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu said in a statement on Wednesday that the individuals, who claimed to be from Kaduna state, were apprehended with fake certificates, falsely asserting their Lagos indigeneship.
“The NA wishes to state that the arrest of the fraudulent candidates was a result of the commitment of the NA in upholding a transparent and credible recruitment process in line with its core values of integrity and fairness,” the statement reads.
The video highlights the army’s dedication to ensuring the recruitment of only authentic indigenes, with a transparent process scrutinizing candidates’ claims of state origin. The state representative, an integral part of the recruitment team, played a crucial role in verifying the genuineness of the candidates’ indigene-ship claims.
Addressing the seriousness of the breach, Nwachukwu emphasized, “The fraudulent act perpetrated by the three candidates who attempted to secure vacancies designated for candidates with Lagos State indigene-ship is a serious breach of our recruitment process and will not be condoned.”
The NA reassures the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to uncover the extent of fraudulent activities and identify individuals or syndicates involved. The army is committed to ensuring that only the most qualified candidates are selected.
Nwachukwu stated, “We want to assure the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to ascertain the extent of these fraudulent activities and to identify any individual(s) or unscrupulous syndicate(s) involved.”
The army will collaborate with relevant authorities to ensure that those responsible face legal consequences. Prospective candidates are urged to be honest during the enlistment process, with a stern warning that any attempt to manipulate the recruitment process will be met with the full force of the law.
