Convoy Attack: 50 Insurgents Killed, 7 Nigerian Officers Missing
At least 50 Boko Haram fighters were killed on Tuesday and seven members of Nigeria’s infrastructure security force were missing following an insurgent ambush on a convoy monitoring the country’s power grid installations, a spokesperson said.

The northeastern region has endured 15 years of insurgency at the hands of Boko Haram, which, despite military pressure and internal divisions, continues to launch devastating attacks on civilians and government targets, thus remaining a significant security concern.
According to Babawale Afolabi, spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps, NCDC, a government agency tasked with infrastructure protection, security forces were attacked by around 200 Boko Haram insurgents while conducting a patrol mission.
Afolabi stated that the engagement resulted in over 50 insurgent casualties, while seven operatives remain missing, with ongoing efforts to track and recover them from the bush. Meanwhile, several members of the security force incurred wounds.

Although Boko Haram’s core operations are in the northeast, Nigerian authorities indicate the group has established a presence in Niger state, where a significant Muslim population resides, and has conducted attacks on military personnel and civilians.
In northeast Borno state, a military spokesperson confirmed the deaths of five soldiers, allegedly killed by insurgents, in a separate attack last Saturday.
