In a compassionate effort to alleviate the burden of breast cancer on one of their own, Hon. Idris Hussein, popularly known as Idrisima and the Chief Executive Officer of Crush Cafe in Gwarimpa, has spearheaded a fundraising initiative. The campaign aims to secure N3 million for Mrs Ruth Amina Abba, a Kogi indigene battling breast cancer.
Idrisima took to his Facebook platform on Thursday to announce the launch of this crucial fundraising program. Demonstrating his commitment to the cause, he kickstarted the effort with a generous personal donation of N250,000, which he pledged to contribute in five-day installments. Moved by Mrs Ruth’s appeal video, Idrisima called upon fellow well-meaning Kogites to join hands in rescuing this patient.
Ruth, an alumna of the former Kogi State University Anyigba (now Prince Audu Abubakar University), graduated in 2015. Her battle with breast cancer began in January 2023, leading to a prescription of nine chemotherapy sessions. However, financial constraints have impeded her progress, and she has managed to undergo only six sessions, leaving three pending. Each chemotherapy session carries a cost of N200,000, and Ruth has exhausted all possible avenues for financial aid. Her aspiration to practice Theatre Arts fuels her determination to overcome this ordeal, but she now faces the hurdle of surgery and radiotherapy.
Sunday Attabo, through his Sasi show, highlighted Ruth’s plight, indicating that the estimated total cost for her medical bills is around N3 million. Urging the public not to turn a blind eye to Ruth’s predicament, Sunday passionately appealed for financial assistance.
Idrisima, echoing this sentiment, has called on individuals from all walks of life to contribute whatever they can to rescue Ruth from the clutches of cancer. He has appointed Onoja Integrity to lead the coordination of donations and fundraising, emphasizing the collective power of unity in the face of adversity.
Ruth’s account details were provided for public assistance and it includes account number 2031839471 domiciled with UBA bearing Ruth Amina Abba as account name.
