….Dr. Faisal Shifts Focus from Governorship to Toto LG Chairmanship
In a surprising development, Dr. Shuaib Faisal, a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) figure and former Executive Secretary of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHDA), has reportedly relinquished his 2027 gubernatorial aspirations to pursue the Toto Local Government chairmanship position.
Sources seeking anonymity disclosed that during a secretive gathering with loyal supporters, the former NPHDA leader made assertive claims, predicting that his preferred chairmanship candidate, Salihu Gani (Shamaki), would obtain the coveted backing of Governor Abdullahi Sule, revealing his strong ties to the Governor.
The source reports that Dr. Faisal’s recent meeting with Chairmanship aspirants, where he declared neutrality, was notable for its calculated political insincerity and manipulation of Toto LG people’s emotions.

During a conversation with our correspondent in Lafia on Friday, it was noted that Dr. Faisal was presented with a list of prospective chairmanship candidates in select LGAs, such as Toto, as part of an effort to oppose the current administration under Governor Abdullahi Sule in the run-up to the 2027 elections.
Last year, amidst Governor Sule’s election petition tribunal challenges, Dr. Faisal commenced strategic discussions to potentially succeed the Governor, who had barely spent three months in office after securing reelection for a second term.
The coalition of APC Chairmanship aspirants from Toto LG has issued a statement through their spokesperson, Mallam Isah Yunusa denouncing Dr. Faisal’s breach of trust and criticizing his failure to uphold the principles expected of an elder statesman.
A formal declaration of opposition has been made by the group against Dr. Faisal, ensuring that neither he nor his faction will achieve councilorship or other positions in Toto LG.
The coalition noted that during a meeting between Chairmanship aspirants and Dr. Faisal, Shamaki, also an aspirant, was conspicuously absent, and upon inquiry, it was revealed that Dr. Faisal had endorsed him as his sole candidate.

The coalition cautioned Governor Abdullahi Sule to be vigilant, advising him not to place undue trust in Dr. Faisal, who is reportedly eager to assume the Governorship position without his proper and official consent
The group is calling upon Dr. Shuaib Faisal to affirm on the Holy Qur’an that he has not obtained nomination and intent forms for Salihu Gani (Shamaki) to run in the Toto Local Government Chairmanship election.
