A delegation from the national secretariat of the Union in Abuja, led by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, supervised the election, which was conducted through an affirmation process. The event was also attended by a high-powered delegation from the Kogi State Government, including Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Mrs. Folashade Ayo Arike, Head of the Kogi State Civil Service, Pastor Elijah Evinemi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onu Johnson Edoka, past leaders of the Union, and labour leaders from other union bodies, all of whom played an active role in the delegate conference.

The pragmatic step taken by the senior citizens of Kogi state in unanimously deciding to return Engr. Clement Ohida unopposed at a colourful ceremony held in Lokoja, Kogi state capital, may not be unrelated to the impressive leadership qualities he demonstrated during his first term.

In a post-election speech, the re-elected State chairman of Nigeria Union of Pensioners expressed happiness and profound gratitude to members for re-electing him and other officials to serve the Union for another four years.

Engr. Clement Ohida commended the increment of retirees’ monthly pension to ten thousand naira for both State and local government retirees, and the offer of free healthcare insurance coverage to members with pensions under fifty thousand naira, as part of his achievements, attributing the success to the state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo’s dedication to improving their welfare packages.
