….Recommends Strategic Steps Governor Oborevwori Should Take for Delta’s Future

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has made remarkable progress in fulfilling his campaign promises, particularly in infrastructure and environmental restoration. However, according to Air Vice Marshal Frank Ajobena (Rtd), the next phase of development must focus on strategic investments in energy, agriculture, and education.

Ajobena emphasized the need for the governor to leverage the newly granted authority over electricity supply to boost industrial growth. “Reliable energy is essential for economic expansion. If Delta State invests in power generation, businesses will flourish, and more jobs will be created,” he stated.

Agriculture, another key sector, requires a structured approach to ensure sustainability. Ajobena proposed reviving the Songhai Farm as a skills training center and restructuring loan disbursement to provide direct inputs rather than cash, reducing misuse of funds.

He also called for an overhaul of the education system to incorporate skill acquisition from an early stage, ensuring students graduate with practical competencies for the job market.

On national security, Ajobena urged the federal government to embrace ranching as a lasting solution to the farmers-herders crisis, while also condemning President Tinubu’s actions in the Rivers State political turmoil, labeling them as unconstitutional.

For economic growth to be sustained, he encouraged greater private sector involvement, stating, “Entrepreneurs must rise to the challenge and take advantage of the government’s development initiatives to drive job creation.”
