I have the leadership qualities to lead Kuje area council – APC female chairmanship aspirant

The lone female chairmanship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for February 21, 2026 election in Kuje area council, Hajiya Aishat Yakubu said she has leadership qualities to pilot the affairs of the council if she is given the mandate.
Yakubu, a former speaker of Kuje area council, stated this when she addressed newsmen shortly after she submitted her expression of interest/nomination at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, on Wednesday.
She said since she had been able to lead the legislative arm of Kuje area council, and also as chairperson of the legislative arms of the six area councils of the FCT, she has garnered enough experience to provide the needed leadership qualities that the citizens of the council desired.
She, however, regretted that, despite women were the major key players in politics of the country, the women have been sidelined and under re-presented.
“And looking at the constitutional amendment of the 2022 in Article 7, that women should be given equal opportunity like the men and people with disabilities, which is why I stand on that ground as a woman, I should be given that opportunity to serve the good people of my area council. And I have the capacity to deliver if the given the mandate she said.
She said she expects equity and justice to be done by the stakeholders of the council to give her the required support so that she will bring the required they desire to bear.
The APC chairmanship aspirant, who said she has served the party for years, saying it is time for the stakeholders to reciprocate by giving her the support so that the party will emerge victorious at the poll in February 21, 2026 election in Kuje area council.
Our correspondent report that, the APC chairmanship nomination/expression of interest forms were received by Tasiu Mohammed and Dr Abdullahi Wambai, Director, Elections management directorate and Director of Organizing of the national secretariat of the party respectively.
