…As Nasarawa State has 4 women out of 147 Councilors and 1 woman out of 24 lawmakers.
Hon. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim is the Member representing Nasarawa Central Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, and have strongly advocated for more women into elective positions especially during the forthcoming Local Government elections in the State.
Hon. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim, stalwart of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, stated this when Forum of Women Councilors paid her a courtesy visit at the assembly complex,Thursday 22, August 2024.
The only Nasarawa female lawmaker expressed concerned over poor representations of women holding elective positions in the state.
The lawmaker said, she is not happy being the only female member in the assembly representing the voice of the women and wish to have more women in 2027 so that the voice of women can be heard louder.
She said that out of the 147 electoral wards of the state, only four women were elected as councilors.
” In terms of occupying elective positions, women were left far behind in Nasarawa State at both Local Government and the State levels.
” We have women of integrity and capacity, who can perform even better than some of the men” She added.
She urged women in the State to come together to unite and work hard towards supporting the realization of women dream to become victorious at the forthcoming Local Government elections.
” Women should at least be given opportunity to occupy the seat of six Local Government Chairmen and Deputy Chairmen. We can achieve that with hard work, let stop politics of self center” She said.
She tasked women on supporting one another to become successful in life irrespective of their differences.
She used the medium to congratulate the newly inaugurated officials of the forum and wished them successful tenure.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the forum, Hajiya Ladidi Audu said they were in the assembly to appreciate the member for the good work she is doing via providing quality representation.
She said the forum also passed vote of confidence on her thus reaffirming their support for the female legislator beyond 2027.
She said that the forum is proud of her and will continue to support her political ambition until she occupy the highest position in the state.

It would be reported that the event was climaxed with the presentation of a historical book of the association to the Hon. member.
