INEC announces Barr. Julius Abure’s candidate, Chief George Moughalu as authentic Labour Party Governorship Candidate in Anambra

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognized Chief Dr. George Moghalu as the authentic Labour Party governorship candidate for the November 8, 2025 Anambra State election, affirming the leadership of Barr. Julius Abure as the legitimate LP National Chairman.

Moghalu emerged from the Abure-led faction after securing 573 votes against his rival John Nwosu’s 19 votes in a primary held on April 5, which was monitored by INEC officials and election observers.

This recognition by INEC endorses Abure’s faction as the officially recognized Labour Party leadership, despite ongoing internal party disputes with rival factions.

The party and Abure’s camp have celebrated this development as a historic victory and a boost for their legitimacy
