Joint security forces raid IPOB, ESN hideouts in South East, sparking tension
The Joint Security Forces have successfully launched a raid on the camps of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Imo State, Nigeria.
Security forces consisting of the Nigerian Army, Police, and other agencies in Imo State have successfully dismantled a major IPOB/ESN criminal hideout, resulting in the arrest of several criminal elements, as confirmed by the Police PPRO in a statement.
Findings from Global Times Nigeria’s investigation indicate that a joint operation, carried out over several weeks, led to the obliteration of a key base utilized by the group to perpetrate brutal attacks against security personnel and innocent civilians.
This operation also resulted in the apprehension of key suspects and substantially enhanced security in the state, thereby providing relief to local communities affected by the group’s illicit activities
IPOB/ESN are separatist groups seeking Biafra’s independence, whereas the Nigerian government classifies them as terrorist organizations.
