The Kano State Ministry of Education indicated its willingness to work with Alumni of Old Boys Associations across the state to boost education standards.

Ministry of Education, Kano State, 17th October,, 2024., Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, Commissioner for Education, gave assurance today, Thursday, when executive members of the Rumfa Old Boys Association, Class ’94, visited his office for a courtesy call.
Represented by Hajiya Kubra Imam, Permanent Secretary, the Commissioner stressed that education’s development relies on concerted efforts from government, individuals, and non-governmental organizations to overcome the sector’s existing challenges.
He noted that the recent government declaration of a state of emergency in education is a clear indication of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration dedication to resolving the issues plaguing the education system.
According to the Commissioner, the government plans to sustain its collaboration with old students and various non-governmental organizations to develop and implement further educational enhancement programs statewide.
Doguwa outlined the administration’s key achievements to date, featuring the widespread distribution of teaching materials, enhanced school infrastructure through furniture provision and classroom renovations, and comprehensive staff training and capacity-building programs.
“To ensure maximum security in public schools, Kano’s administration is recruiting 17,600 security guards and local hunters across the 44 local government areas, according to Doguwa.”
” I would like to reaffirm our ministry’s commitment to collaborating with your organization and other like-minded associations to provide essential support for education in Kano.”
” As you can see, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration is now focusing on three key components to improve the education sector: access, quality, and infrastructure development in schools.”
” Doguwa declared that the ministry remains committed to maintaining open channels for constructive counsel and direction, ensuring a synergistic approach to advancing the education sector, following the association’s visit.”
Alhaji Mustapha Rabi’u, Secretary, Rumfa Old Boys Association, Class 94, acknowledged the administration’s commitment to education reform during a courtesy call on the Commissioner.
” Considering the laudable programmes being executed under the education ministry, we deemed it paramount to come out and demonstrate our total support, as old students, to encourage government for what it has been doing in the education sector ” he disclosed.
Mustapha Rabi’u stressed that at chapter level, the association had come up with several intervention programmes to be offered to current students interns of guidance, mentorship and provision of teaching facilities.
He announced that the chapter is planning to hold it’s 30th anniversary during which the association would select some key stakeholders who contributed immensely to the development of education in the state and be presented with award of excellence.
