Kidnapped victims in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State have regained their freedom.

Confirming the release of the victims in Lokoja, a member representing Yagba East constituency at the State House of Assembly, Mr Obaro Emmanuel thanked Governor Yahaya Bello, security agents , and other stakeholders for taking prompt actions towards the release of the victims.

Mr Obaro said for future prevention, he has suggested in his motion recently raised in the House of Assembly in which the speaker in his ruling appealed to security agencies to initiate twenty four hours surveillance in the area.

On the condition of the victims, the Assembly member emphasised that they are all in good condition and had since joined their family members and communities that were elated about the development.

Mr Obaro however appealed to the stakeholders in the mining sector to wade in into the issues of illegal miners in the area saying, lack of proper documentation of miners has badly affected the judgement of the people and security agencies about the identity of the natives and foreigners.

He called for regulations of the activities of miners in order to checkmate crime and criminality as well as environmental hazards.

The lawmaker also commended the state government for the ongoing reconstruction of roads which according to him would reduce the activities of the men of the underworld.
