Youths, Stakeholders, traditional rulers and the entire residents of Egbe Township and beyond have been commended for their peaceful and coordinated protest in the last few days over the killings of security operatives in the Area.
An elder statesman from Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, Chief Richard Asaje in a statement heep praises on the people for their peaceful disposition, describing protest as part of democratic right.
“For those saying that protesters are blocking roads and causing inconveniences for others who use the roads, protesters all over the world have used roadblocks to express their feelings and in recent years have become more strongly linked to climate activism
“I commend the act of patriotism on the part of the youths who we considered as great assurance of unwavering solidarity towards the collective actualisation of peace and security of lives and property in our communities
“I feel the pains of the protesters because no one will be happy to see the lives of their loved ones cut short in a broad daylight. So I must commend the peaceful manner they conducted themselves in the Council over the incident
“I believe the government would continue to improve on intelligent strategies to curb insecurity in the area and beyond. As a people, I also called on us to be more security conscious too because security is everyone’s business”, he stressed.
Chief Asaje pointed out that the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo led Administration in Kogi State is working hard with the local government authority and relevant security agencies across the State towards ensuring that the people sleep with their two eyes closed.
Chief Asaje urged the youths, traditional rulers and everyone to be more vigilant in their domains and to promptly report strange developments or persons to the government and security agencies to disallow insecurity in the State.
He also enjoined the people not to blame the present situation on the Council Chairman whom he said is genuinely passionate about the security situation in the LGA.
Chief Asaje enjoined them to remain law abiding as the government will continue to do her best to protect the lives and property of the people.
