Kogi APC Chieftain, Tajudeen Bismillahi commends President Tinubu over LG autonomy
An All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain in Kogi State and businessman, Alhaji Tajudeen Bismillahi has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment towards uplifting the standard of people at the grassroots level, particularly on the autonomy of Local Government and described it as a right step in right direction towards deepening democracy in Nigeria.
One time Senatorial Aspirant for Kogi West, Alhaji Tajudeen Bismillahi (Phd) stated this while reacting to the supreme court verdict on the issues.
Alhaji Bismillahi who is also the Imole Adinni of Okun Land said, Local Government constitutionally is to bring government closer to the people at the grassroots level hence the need for the respect of the choice of people without undue interference from the state government.
The APC Stalwart maintained that with the development, people of reputable character will be attracted to level and those who emerged during election will be loyal and responsive to the people as well.
His words ” it is long overdue of course, we practice federalism, and that should be respected absolutely. Both Chairmen and Councillors’ position should be contested for in real democracy and federalism. Joint account system of state and local Government has been abused by some Governors leading to slow pace of development at the local level.
The supreme court has just done her responsibility by bringing to fore the constitutional rights of the council and hopefully it will positively change a lot in terms of human capital development”.
The politicians cum business mogul emphasised that Nigeria will be better when right things are strictly adhere to.
