Southeast chieftain of the labour party and Special Adviser on Security matters to Abia State Governor, Naval Commander Macdonald Ubah, Rtd, has rallied support for the national caretaker committee of the party.
He lauded the recent supreme court ruling which resolved the lingered leadership crisis that erupted in the party after last general elections in the country.
Ubah who made the commendation in a statement issued on Sunday, following the apex court’s ruling which sacked Julius Abure as National chairman of the labour party.
Ubah who is also leader of the labour party in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia state, opined that the judicial pronouncement has restored peace and unity in the party, adding that time is now for all critical stakeholders to support efforts of Senator Nemadi Usman-led caretaker committee of the labour party to institutionalize internal democracy in the party.
“The apex court has laid to rest the protracted intra-party squabble. We must eschew bitterness and collectively rally round the national leadership and state chapters of the party to reposition it and give Nigerians competent leaders solving myraids of problems impeding the effort of the country to attain greatness”,the chieftain added.
Ubah commended former presidential candidate of the labour party, Peter Obi, Governor Alex Otti and other leaders of the party in the country for their unwavering commitment to the building of an all-inclusive party devoid of acrimony and discrimination.
He also commended Governor Otti for redefining governance in Abia state through the building of critical infrastructures which according to him, has remarkably enhanced the state’s economy, and engendered development in all communities in Abia.
According to him, the governor has rewritten ugly narratives associated with governance in Abia with efficient civil service, improved education system, functional healthcare delivery system, effective security architecture, ongoing construction of airport and among others.
“Today, Abia ranked as peaceful and safest state due to workable security architecture put in place by the present administration. And improved infrastructures engendered by this government across the state has turned Abia to become new destination for foreign and local business investments, unlike the past, investors relocated their businesses due to insecurity and infrastructural deficits,”Ubah stated.
He asserted that these aforementioned giant developmental strides recorded by the state government will be replicated in whole country when labour party assume the leadership of Nigeria.
While earlier soliciting maximum support from members for the national caretaker committee of the labour party following final resolution of protracted leadership crisis that engulfed the main opposition party in Nigeria, Retired Naval Commander Ubah charged Senator Nemadi Usman-led committee to pursue reforms that will institutionalize internal democracy in order to guarantee success for the party in future electoral competitions.
