Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has urged Nigerians to continue to pray and support leaders at the corridors of power to initiate policies that will transform the country according to the yearnings of the masses.

 

Speaker Jatau made the call at the closing of this year’s Qur’anic recitation and commentaries known as Tafsir for staff of the State House of Assembly today in Lafia.

The Speaker who was represented by member representing Awe North Hon. Hudu A Hudu noted that it is against the teachings of Islam to insult leaders indiscriminately hence the need for his call for people to always pray and support leaders to succeed.

He said what Nigeria leaders need at this critical moment is prayers for divine intervention while calling on followers to be just and fair in their conducts for the good of the country.

Rt. Hon Jatau reminded Muslims that Islam teaches fairness, justice and love.

“And for anyone who deprived he or herself of the luxury of life because of these virtues will receive reward in the hereafter,” he said.

“Let always pray and support leaders at levels of power to initiate deliberate policies that will bring succour to the sufferings being faced

” We should avoid hypocrisy, embrace truthfulness, sincerity and love for one another wholeheartedly

“We should be committed and serious in our duty posts and ensure we sustained the lessons of the holy month of Ramadan” He added.

Earlier, Sheikh Mohammed Mohammed Sarki called on Muslims to sustain the lesson learnt during Ramadan for spiritual upliftment, societal growth and development.

“Sustain the good deeds of Ramadan throughout your life, don’t associate God with any other partner, know that God is the only one who has power to give life, wealth, good health and leadership positions among others and he can take it at anytime, so have faith and trust on him”

“Leaders should lead with the fear of God and followers too should live their lives with the fear of God” He said.

The Cleric also spoke extensively on the significance of time and it’s preciousness warning people against wasting their time doing what does not please God.

The closing of Tafsir for the State House of Assembly also featured special prayers for the State and the country at large as well as for leaders to succeed.n
