Nasarawa Assembly hosts public hearing on mining regulations, community agreements
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Environment says it is set to hold public hearing on A Bill For a Law to Provide for the Registrations and Control of Issuance of Land Consent and Community Agreements to Mining Entities by Mining Communities and other Matters Related Thereto.
A statement signed by the Chairman House Committee on Environment Hon. Muhammed Adamu Omadefu said the public hearing is to enable critical stakeholders in the mining sector make input on the said bill.
The statement calls for submission of 14 copies of memorandum and appearance for oral defense from the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, State Ministry of Health and that of Justice.
Others are State Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, State Ministry of Humanitarian, Social Services and NGOs, Nigeria Mining Cadastral Office, Nasarawa State Geographical and information Service, NAGIS, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Nigeria Bar Association’s, NBA as well as Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency, NASEMA.
The statement added that interested unions, groups and individuals can also summit their memorandum.
The statement however, gave the date to the public hearing as Monday 30th, December, 2024 by 10, O’clock in the morning at the State Assembly, Complex, Shendam Road Lafia.
