Nasarawa Assembly partners NASREA for environmental safety
The Chairman, Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Environment, Hon. Muhammed Adamu Omadefu, has pledged the House’s commitment to enact legislation that enhances environmental standards and safety, aligning with global best practices within the State.
Omadefu noted that the House Committee on Environment is partnering the State Office of National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency NESREA to achieve the set objectives.
Hon. Omadefu (APC Keana) stated this while playing host to the new State Coordinator of NESREA Dr. Daniel Terwase in his office at the Assembly complex Lafia, Wednesday.
The Lawmaker who welcomed the new State Coordinator to the State assured him of effective collaboration to enable the agency achieve its set target on environmental policies and programmes that will help the State.
Omadefu underscored the significant role of NESREA in tackling environmental challenges, enhance environmental safety and standard in the society said the House is committed in supporting any initiative that will help the State.
He expressed satisfaction with the policy trust and blue print highlighted by the new State Officer and assured him of working together to enable the agency succeed on its mandate.
On his part, the new State Coordinator of NESREA Dr. Daniel Terwase said he just resumed the State newly and find it necessary to visit major players and stakeholders in the environmental sector to notify them of his presence, inform them of his blue print to turn around the sector as well as seek their partnership.
He commended the great efforts of the Chairman House Committee on Environment Hon. Omadefu and his team saying that they are doing great job in the sector as a committee.
He said NESREA has been closely monitoring the great efforts and activities of the House Committee on Environment in the environment sector especially their oversight functions and visits to mining sites and it’s attendant benefit seeking for effective partnership between the House and NESREA.
