Nasarawa Lawmaker, Solomon Akwashiki offers free JAMB registration for 170 students
The Member representing Lafia Central constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki, has provided free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration for 170 students in his constituency.
Akwashiki, who is the Minority Whip of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly disclosed during flagging off of the JAMB free registration, Monday, in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital.
The lawmaker assured of his readiness to get admissions for those students that pass their JAMB Examinations.
He urged students to be hard working and committed to their studies in order to excel in their academic pursuits.
The Minority Whip said that the gesture was borne out of his desire to assist the indigent students of his constituency as well as to complement Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s efforts in the education sector.
” You will recall that in the last two months , I have sponsored computer training programme for this students to enable them acquire computer skills and knowledge
” And during the training, I have promised to register JAMB for you and to get admission for you, once you get the JAMB cut off marks
” Today, I still want to assure you that I will get admission for you once you excel in your JAMB by scoring the cut off points,” he said.
The lawmaker said that he has spent N4.5 million on the project.
Akwashiki, who is Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts also urged the students to embrace computer training considering its importance to human and societal development.
Besides, he assured of his readiness to continue to provide purposeful and quality representation at the state legislature.
” By God’s grace, I will continue to put smiles on the faces of my people by initiating different policies and programmes that will have direct bearing on the lives of my constituents,” he said
The lawmaker also urged the students and other people of the state to continue to support Rt. Hon Danladi Jatau, Speaker of the state legislature and the government of the day to succeed.
On their parts, Mr Tajudeen Hassan, DG Hon Abubakar Sarki Dahiru (Garkuwa) Campaign Organization, Mr Abdullahi Yahaya Mohamed, DG Hon Solomon Akwashiki Campaign Organization and Muhammad Tanko, Member Hon Solomon Akwashiki Campaign Organization appreciated the lawmaker for the gesture.
They said that the gesture would go a long way in improving on the standard of education in the constituency and the state at large.
They urged the students and other people of the constituency to pray and support Hon Akwashiki to succeed.
Speaking in an interview, Mercy Samuel, John Ovey ,beneficiaries appreciated Hon Akwashiki for the gesture and prayed God to bless him abundantly.
They promised to take their studies with seriousness.
They have assured Hon Akwashiki of their loyalty and support to succeed.
