Nasarawa: Tension Mounts Over Alleged Plan To Take Over Toto LGA

Tension is currently mounting in Toto Local Government area of Nasarawa State, following rumours that the Nasarawa state House of Assembly has concluded plans to forcefully displace the people and replace them with the Bassa Kwomu.
Investigation conducted also revealed that the desperate Bassa Kwomu people have disclosed that they have entered into a pact with the Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Honourable Danladi Jatau, to ensure a legislation that will enable their taking over of the area.
Sources at Gwagwalada, Kwali, Yangoji in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, Karu and Keffi, said the Bassa Kwomu are in high spirit to massively and forcefully come to Toto Local Government area, even though they don’t have houses there.
The major source of concern is why do the Bassa Kwomu chose this time that government is battling with insecurity, to launch what may seem to add more problem by going to Toto Local Government area to struggle for properties that do not belong to them?.
It is also alleged that the Speaker of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly, Honourable Danladi Jatau, has promised them that as far as he is concerned the movement of the Bassa Kwomu to Toto Local Government area is a must.
Investigation conducted further revealed that serries of meetings were held with the Speaker, whom they said is of Bassa stock from Bassa Zarangi in Kokona local government area to perfect a legislation that will displace the people of Toto Local Government area for the Bassa Kwomu.
The state and in deed the nation is already engulfed by insecurity and any attempt now to encourage and hightenned it will be counter productive.
For now the government of Nasarawa State should be preparing for sustenance of peace and not otherwise.
It is unfortunate that some people will choose this golden opportunity of peace and tranquility to create commotion.
The indefatigable Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, needs a peaceful state and not rancour as he has toiled very much for peace in the state.
Any other consideration now a side peace will not only derail him, but put his Government in bad light.
Already rumours have taken over the area and tension is high, with people set to defend their lives and properties.
The ongoing move by the Bassa Komu is to create more problems for the government, having failed woefully through the electoral process.
It was also gathered that the politicians among the Bassa group supported the opposition parties to oust the incumbent so that “their new government” will bring them to Toto, where they will lay claims to land and properties.
