A statement issued by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy at the NDLEA, revealed that the arrest was made following the interception of a truckload of illicit drugs from her staff on the same day.

Alhaja Ajoke, fondly called “Iya Ruka” in the drug underworld, has had her true identity shrouded in mystery for years while remaining on the NDLEA’s wanted list for leading a drug cartel operating from Mushin area of Lagos.

However, the lid was blown off her invincibility when Wein Intelligence intercepted a White Zuza truck carrying 44 jumbo sacks of imported cannabis weighing 1,540 kilograms, driven by her 41-year-old staff member, Abideen Adio.

Following this, the operatives stormed her hideout at 33 Adebayo Oyewole street, off Ago Palace way, Okota, where they took her into custody.

Publicly, Alhaja Ajoke is known as a businesswoman who imports fabrics and shoes from China, but privately, she is reportedly linked to a massive illicit drug trade.

She is also recognized as the Iyalaje of Blessing Sisters, a prominent club of society women in Lagos.
