Ododo directs appointees to relocate for voter mobilization
IDRIS AHMED, LOKOJA.
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has directed all political appointees both at the state and local government levels, to immediately relocate to their local government areas of origin for effective sensitization and mobilization to ensure success of the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration ( CVR).
The directive delivered by the State Commissioner of Information and Mobilization, Hon. Kinsley Fanwo, urged all Commissioners and the highest-ranking political appointees in each Local Government Area as well as all appointed government officials under Ododo administration to comply with out hesitation.
According to Hon. Fanwo, the directive takes effect from Monday, September 1, 2025, as contained in a circular from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr Mrs Folashade Arike Ayoade
The circular directed that all the appointees of government who are to participate in the exercise will be under the coordination of the highest ranking appointee from each Local Government.
They are also expected to coordinate registration mobilization efforts at the ward levels and submit a comprehensive report at the end of the exercise .
The top government officials are also charged to include in their reports, details of the number of new voters registered in their respective Wards and Local Government Areas.
The Governor insisted that the era of governance being conducted solely from the State Capital must give way to direct engagement with the people at the grassroots, emphasizing that government officials must remain accessible and responsive to the needs of their communities.
The directive also stipulates that any appointee who wishes to leave his or her LGA during this period must obtain prior written approval from the Secretary to the State Government, or face disciplinary action.
The Commissioner of Information and Mobilization who made the statement available to newsmen over the weekend, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to deepening grassroots governance and ensuring massive voter participation in the electoral process.
