Onyeme attends Oguma’s father-in-law’s installation as Okpako-Orere
Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, graced the installation ceremony of Chief Oresiri Kpomah as the Okpako-Orere (Eldest Man) of Owhrode community, alongside Olorogun John Oguma, in Udu Local Government Area on New Year’s Eve.
Pa Oresiri, a nonagenarian and former Chief Superintendent of Police, and Father-in-law to John Oguma, was installed as the community’s most elderly man on New Year’s Eve, amidst a plethora of activities.
Speaking during the event, Olorogun John Oguma said, “My father in-law is a wonderful person that has love for all and sundry, he retired as a police officer and attained the age of becoming the head as the most senior man in his community, Owhrode.
“It is not everyone that did his kind of job and attained the age of 90 to become the most senior man, it shows that his hands are clean.
“It takes a righteous man to serve at that capacity and gets to that age, and I pray God to guide him in his new assignment as the responsibilities of his community are now on his shoulders.
Speaking further, Oguma commended the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme for honouring his invitation with his entourage to grace the installation of his father in-law.
“I casually told him about the event and he attended with his entourage and I am grateful because his coming made the event more colourful.” he stated.
Also speaking the eldest son, Chief Solomon Kpomah, former Udu local government council chairman, said, “My father is the best man anyone would want to have. He worked and retired as a police officer and where he was retired, the people honored him with a traditional chieftancy title and that tells us how good he is.
“We all agreed and said this is one of the ceremonies he is alive to witness and it is better we do it well as he may not be alive to witness them, so this is his celebration, we are celebrating him now that he is alive.”
On his part, Pa Oresiri Kpomah said, “Today is one of the happiest day and moments in my life and I appreciate it.
“The elders, women, youths of Owhrode deemed it fit that the event should go this way and I am grateful for the turn up.
“We have our traditional roles as elders in the community and whatever we can attract for the betterment of this community, I will join hands with everyone to achieve it.
“We are using this opportunity to appeal to the state government to construct Owhrode community road and other projects earmarked and it is not a one man show.
“We should all join hands together to achieve whatever good thing that would come to Owhrode community.
Highlight of the event was the installation and consecration of Pa Oresiri Kpomah as the Okpako-Orere of Owhrode community by Archbishop Solomon Gbakara and Archbishop God Do-Well Avwomakpa at the community secondary school.
