Opposition in DR Congo calls for protests over constitutional revision
The leading opposition political forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have come out strongly against the proposed revision of the country’s constitution and called on the population to stage protests against President Felix Tshisekedi’s initiative.
The opposition has described the constitutional revision initiative as a “diabolical plan to consolidate the Balkanization of the country.” They maintain that the plan poses a substantial threat to national sovereignty and democracy in the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC. As a result, politicians have called on the local population to mobilize demonstrations against the amendments.
