Political Appointments: Akoko-Edo APC at Loggerheads with Adjoto
…Adjoto is undermining the structure and leadershipÂ

All is not well for Hon. Kabiru Adjoto, former Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, EDHA, in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area under the All Progressive Congress, APC, he assumed he joined before the September 21, 2024 election even when he has not formally joined in his Ward 6, according to the Chairman, Mr. Ahmed Ikubaiyeje in a letter he wrote and signed by ward leaders in 2024. Recall the ward party executives as well as stakeholders rejected his coming into the party after the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, wrote a petition to the state chairman of the Party alleging Adjoto was found of coveting gift items such as rice, goats, and other materials sent to Akoko-Edo for sharing. Adjoto will later go to his vomit after he was not considered for the position of the illegal deputy governor position of the state when Comrade Philip Shaibu was purportedly impeached – he joined forces with the likes of Chief Dan Orbih, Comrade Philip, Senator Oshiomole and others he used to cast aspersions against.
Adjoto recent ordeal in Akoko-Edo APC stems from his unilateral decision to appoint, without consulting the leadership of the Party, vacant spaces after Hon. Tajudeen Alade was impeached earlier this month.
In a communique signed by the Party LGA Chairman, Hon. Monday Ose, dated 20th January, 2025, stakeholders of the Party in Akoko-Edo(which include LGA party executives, ward chairmen, women leaders and several others) met on the 16th, January, 2025, to deliberate on the ‘illegal and lopsided nomination of names for the vacant political positions by Hon. Kabiru Adjoto.’
Several resolutions were taken during the meeting which include; that Hon. Peter Akpatason remains the leader of the APC in Akoko-Edo, that any list not from Hon. Akpatason and Mr. Monday Ose, the LGA Party Chairman, is null and void, that the list to fill the vacant positions was drawn by Adjoto without the knowledge of stakeholders of the Party, that Adjoto has not officially decamped to APC hence he is still a member of PDP and should stop parading himself as the leader of APC in Akoko-Edo, and that the governor with the Party’s state chairman should call Adjoto to order to set the list aside to avoid chaos and anarchy in Akoko-Edo APC.
The governor, as well as the state acting chairman, has been advised to act swiftly to curtail the ugly development brewing in Akoko-Edo APC as Adjoto is undermining the structure and leadership of the Party in the LGA. It is this same highhandedness he employed while in PDP where he lorded over the Party members he met when he decamped in 2020, he wont be allowed to do the same in APC that has well structured leadership. Adjoto cannot overtake the leadership of the APC in Akoko-Edo, a Party he allegedly joined in 2024 when there have been dogged leaders in the Party who stayed during the terror reign of Governor Obaseki, aided by this same Adjoto and others after they both left the party in 2020. Would Adjoto have left PDP if he was appointed as the illegal Deputy Governor, which Marvellous Omobayo occupied, when Comrade Philip Shaibu was illegally impeached?
Leaders of the Party across board must come together to put Adjoto where he belongs. He is not the alter ego of the party. Leaders like Hon. Oladele Bolagun, the Chairman, Edo State Internal Generated Revenue, IGR, have spoken on this matter. I want others to follow suit; Hon. Peter Akpatason, Hon. Bisi Idaomi, Chief Taiwo Akerele, Mr. Fred Attah, Hon. Anselm Agbabi…every APC member should rise up to condemn Adjoto in his show-down poise with the leadership of APC in the LGA. Hon. Peter Akpatason must, as a matter of political urgency, take his rightful position, as the leader of the Party immediately and help right the wrongs done by Adjoto before the Party goes into chaos and inferno.
