Professor Patrick Loch Otieno (PLO) Lumumba is a Kenyan lawyer, academic, and activist renowned for his work in public law, anti-corruption, and Pan-Africanism. Born on July 17, 1962, in Kenya, he holds an LL.B and LL.M from the University of Nairobi and a PhD in Law of the Sea from Ghent University, Belgium.
He has served as the Director of the Kenya School of Law and was the Director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission. Lumumba is also the founder of the PLO Lumumba Foundation and chairs several organizations including the Farafina Investment Group in Liberia and the Economic Strategic Growth and Development Initiative of Africa based in Nigeria.
Lumumba is a prominent public intellectual and speaker, widely recognized for his advocacy of Pan-Africanism, good governance, anti-corruption, and African unity. He emphasizes the importance of African countries reclaiming their sovereignty and resources, and he often speaks on leadership, governance, and the role of youth in Africa’s development.
He has held academic positions including Dean of the School of Law at Kabarak University and lecturer roles at multiple universities. Lumumba is also an advocate of the High Courts of Kenya and Tanganyika and a certified mediator.
