Renewed hope: Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu shares N950m package for military, police retirees
…..Calls for prayers to end insecurity.
Vanguard had reported about Nigerians reactions on 2024 new year, especially reactions from Social media users have been having a field day.
As they responded to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s call for prayers to end insecurity in the country.
The first Lady made the call on Monday in a statement posted on her official X (formerly Twitter) account, following the return of the five abducted sisters of the Al-Kadriyar family.
Recall that five of the six sisters of the Al-Kadriyar family were kidnapped alongside 19 others by bandits in the Bwari area of Abuja recently; they regained their freedom during the weekend.
Their abductors however murdered the eldest of the six sisters – Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, and three others.
Senator Remi Tinubu’s post is trending alongside her photograph with the caption, “While rejoicing over the return of Al-Kadriyer sisters, Remi Tinubu advocates for intense prayer to combat insecurity while moving in bulletproof cars, armed security.”
What an irony! Nigerians are not smiling honestly. Our prayer is that bad governments will not end up turning the ‘happiest people on earth’ into the most bitter.
A Netizen reacted, “You and your husband should do the work or resign. Did you see Israel or Palestine praying?” That’s it! That’s more or less asking, what happened to the military, police, technology and any other thing necessary to quash criminals, bandits, terrorists, etc. Many have refused to pray, saying that when it’s time for elections, it’s do or die for politicians.
They use the poor masses, play them against each other and rubbish their votes. But when the chips are down, they begin to solicit for prayers. They’ve learned their lessons.
