Sudanese Photo Journalist Ibrahim Nagdalla Assaulted in Egypt

Ibrahim Nagdalla, a Sudanese photo Journalist and member of the Sudanese Journalists Syndicate (SJS), was violently attacked in Cairo, the administrative capital of Egypt on May 15, 2025, by a group of Sudanese nationals, including a former roommate who shifted from opposing to supporting the war in Sudan.
Nagdalla sustained severe injuries with deep wounds and extensive bruising in this politically motivated assault.

The attack indicate growing political polarization among Sudanese exiles, with pro-war groups allegedly using violence to intimidate and vilify dissenters like Nagdalla, who oppose the conflict.
The Sudanese Journalists Syndicate condemned the violence, linking it to broader propaganda campaigns and the fraying social fabric caused by the ongoing war in Sudan.

They vowed to pursue legal action against the attackers and called on international organizations to enhance protections for Sudanese Journalists.
This highlights the precarious situation for journalists both inside and outside Sudan, where press freedom is severely threatened.
