Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, immediate past Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, has congratulated Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, the newly elected Executive Chairman of Toto LGC, Vice Chairman Atnadu Sunday Yakubu, and councilors of 12 electoral wards on their election and swearing-in.
A press release from Yahaya Idris Toto, former Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, quoted Hon. Aliyu Tashas as saying leadership is ordained by God Almighty, who gives it to whomever He pleases, and urged those who contested but lost to keep faith with God, as He never fails.
On Wednesday, 6 November, 2024, the former Toto Local Government Chairman addressed the gathering as a special guest during the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected council officials at the local government secretariat.
Tashas disclosed that his tenure concluded on a high note, with him being a more contented person, thanks to the steadfast guidance of God Almighty and his resolute sincerity of purpose.
He noted that leadership poses inherent difficulties, but by upholding sincerity before God, one can excel and meet the anticipated standards of their people, thereby earning their respect and admiration.
The former council boss admits that expectations are lofty, but the council must prioritize factors crucial to overall well-being to move forward effectively.
When counseling the newly elected Executive Chairman, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, be aware that some detractors, sycophants, and hypocrites may resist his development-focused vision, but it is indeed the optimal path to achievement.
He noted that personal insults may arise, however, upon acknowledging this, focusing on correction and amendment of mistakes will steer you and your new team towards achievement.
Tashas, a native of Gadabuke district, previously served as Special Adviser to the Governor on Conflict Resolution before being elected as Executive Chairman in 2021, led a high-powered delegation to the swearing-in ceremony of council officials, offering prayers for divine guidance to enable them to serve with diligence.
He commended Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya as a results-oriented and selfless leader, based on their shared experience within the State Executive.
The former chairman appreciated the people of Toto local government for backing the All Progressives Congress, APC, led government in the State and urged elected councilors to focus on their legislative duties rather than causing unwarranted interference with the executive arm.
The occasion drew prominent political figures from the three districts, especially those loyal to former Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, whose presence added depth to the gathering.
