Mai Loko FC defeated Oguma United in the final match, which marked the culmination of the seventh edition of the Turakin Loko Talent Hunt Football Tournament 2025 in an exhilarating finale.
The tournament, aimed at promoting unity and development among the youth, was attended by dignitaries including Dr. Musa Muhammed Maikaya, CEO of Maikaya Development Foundation, and the Accountant General of Nasarawa State, among others.
The final match was a fiercely contested encounter, with Zubairu Yakubu of Mai Loko FC scoring the opening goal within ten minutes of play. Despite a strong challenge from Oguma United, Mai Loko FC secured a 2-0 victory with Abdul Kaka scoring the second goal.
Dr. Maikaya expressed his excitement regarding the tournament, emphasizing the crucial function of sports in advancing unity and development. He revealed plans to team up with the Turakin Loko Talent Hunt Football Tournament to accomplish their aims and vowed to continue devising innovative ideas that would empower the youth of Nasarawa State.
“As you can see, people are coming together to celebrate a common goal, and you will agree with me that football is one of the events that bring people together in one place to celebrate unity. It is not just about talent hunting, but also about creating unity and joy. The future of the youths in Nasarawa state looks very bright.”
The convener of the tournament, Adamu Abdul Loko, stated that the event was organized to engage unemployed youth and promote sporting activities in rural communities.
“An idle man is a Devil’s workshop. Indeed, worldwide, football is a crucial means of sustaining employment. Also, in conjunction with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renew Hope Agenda, I propose this initiative as part of my humble contribution to promoting sporting activities in rural communities for sustainable peace and unity.”
He emphasized the role of football in creating job opportunities for young people and promised to extend the tournament beyond Loko and Udege communities.
The tournament drew to a close with a prize-giving ceremony, recognizing the achievements of the best player, best goalkeeper, highest goal scorer, and the top three teams, who received UBA bank checks.
The Sarkin Loko, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Sabo, expressed appreciation for the organizers and urged the officiating team to maintain transparency and promote peace and unity.
