Yagba East LSA to Kogi Gov, Abdurazaq Abdulkadir celebrates Rep Abejide birthday anniversary, outlines projects
Hon. (Comrade) Abdurazaq Olusegun Abdulkadir, the Local Special Assistant (LSA) to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State and immediate past Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) for Yagba East chapter, has joined the people of Yagba federal constituency in celebrating their hardworking and iconic leader, Rt. Hon. Elder Leke Joseph Abejide, the House of Representatives member representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency.
Abdulkadir is known for his background as an agriculturist, Lecturer, and entrepreneur, with experience in farming and agricultural marketing.
His support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Rep Abejide reflects the recognition of the representative’s dedication to the constituency.
Rt. Hon. (Elder) Leke Joseph Abejide, born May 8, 1975, is being widely celebrated today on his birthday for his outstanding representation and service to the Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency.
The Kogi Governor’s aide, noted that Abejide is recognized for bringing quality leadership to his people, notably through initiatives in empowerment, education, infrastructure, and support for youths and women.
Elder Leke Joseph Abejide is a Nigerian politician and philanthropist from Alu, Yagba East, Kogi State. He represents the Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and is recognized for his commitment to community development, especially in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Abejide holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University and an MBA from Bayero University Kano. He is also the chairman and CEO of ABYEM DIVA International Ltd, a clearing and forwarding company. Through the Leke Abejide Foundation, he has paid WAEC fees for thousands of students in both public and private schools and has funded various community projects.
He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, initially under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he gained recognition for his legislative work and philanthropy
Key Achievements of Elder Leke Abejide in Yagba Federal Constituency
Infrastructure and Community Projects:
Completed over 60 capital-intensive projects, including construction and rehabilitation of hundreds of kilometers of roads, bridges, and classrooms.
Provided potable water through borehole projects and rural electrification initiatives.
Constructed a 380-capacity ICT center to boost digital literacy.
Education Initiatives:
Paid WAEC fees for nearly 2,000 students annually, covering both public and private schools, and included administrative charges to prevent students from being sent home.
Extended WAEC payment scheme to cover more students and local government areas.
Empowerment and Welfare:
Launched mega empowerment schemes benefiting over 2,000 constituents with cars, laptops, tricycles, motorcycles, mechanical tools, and fertilizers.
Distributed N20,000 each to hundreds of women and empowered widows, youths, and people with disabilities.
Provided food items and clothing to over 6,500 widows and organized free medical outreach for 300,000 constituents.
Support for Traditional Institutions and Security:
Donated 53 Toyota Highlander SUVs to graded traditional rulers across the constituency.
Committed to improving local security by promising vehicles for hunters and vigilantes to protect farmlands and forests.
Facilitation and Advocacy:
Assisted Yagba indigenes in securing jobs in federal parastatals and facilitated CBN loans for 335 beneficiaries.
Installed solar-powered streetlights in several communities, with plans for expansion.
These achievements reflect Abejide’s focus on infrastructure, education, empowerment, and community welfare in Yagba federal constituency.
Elder Leke Abejide played a leading and direct role in extending WAEC payment to his constituency by personally initiating, funding, and sustaining the payment of WAEC fees for final-year secondary school students across Yagba Federal Constituency since 2018, both in public and private schools. He implemented this through the Leke Abejide Foundation, ensuring that parents no longer bear the financial burden of WAEC fees, and expanded the initiative beyond his constituency to include Kabba-Bunu and Ijumu local government areas. Abejide also covered administrative charges, making the payment comprehensive, and has pledged to continue the scheme until the government fully takes over.
This intervention has enabled thousands of students to sit for their exams without financial worries and has promoted educational access and equity in the region.
