Works Commissioner assures Ajaji layout residents of basic amenities in Delta
The Delta State government has provided assurances to the people of Ajaji Layout, formerly Bonsaac in Asaba, regarding its commitment to delivering crucial social amenities to support the area’s expanding population.
This assurance was reiterated by Delta State Works Commissioner Reuben Izeze, who highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and services within the community.
Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads) Comrade Reuben Izeze provided this assurance during his visit to Ajaji Layout on Tuesday.
Izeze, accompanied by the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Juliet Aboloje, and other senior officials, assured that he would bring the challenges of the area to the Governor’s attention for necessary action
“Our amiable Governor who recently won award as THISDAY Governor of the year 2024, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is a man of the people who cares for the welfare of the masses.
“As you mentioned when you wrote, you came we interfaced and we have come to see what the challenges are.
“Our own is to ensure that we are proactive by seeing the challenges and bringing them to the Governor’s attention and that is what we shall do, we can assure you of that.
“You have said our governor is presiding over a performing government, when he hears the cries of his people you know that in due course you will hear from him,”
Earlier, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Ajaji Layout, Comrade Ifeanyi Francis, thanked the government for its swift response and pointed out that the area lacked essential amenities, including roads, a good drainage system, primary and secondary schools, and a healthcare system.
“Our amiable Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has the ears of the people and he has harkened to the cries of the people and we are most grateful to have seen the jobs he is doing, not just only in Asaba, but in Warri and everywhere.
“All these ones are testimony that any person can come and see with their two eyes and for you to have come here today that we asked for audience and we have been granted that audience.
“So today is a big day for us in this community and I will hope and believe that our governor is going to hear the cry of the people of Ajaji Layout, Bonsaac for roads, drainage, schools and that he will yield to them and come to our rescue.
“We are also appealing for the establishment of schools here. We don’t have government schools here, both primary and secondary.
“The police post, even the hospital or maternity or whatever, but the visit of Asagba has actually boosted our courage here too and so on and our reliance on him that yes, he is going to do something by speaking to our governor.
“So we are most happy today and even the pedestrian bridge that we are asking and begging for attention because of the situation here.
“We are over 100,000 people here, you need to see them when they are coming out in the morning, even our children they go to school across this road to Asaba for primary school and so on.
“We are talking about security. We are talking about the life of our children and so on, even the business community too and so on”, he added.
