Barring any last minute change, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the PDP will confirm the Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Umar Damagum as the substantive National Chairman of the PDP following a vote of confidence passed on him by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party and PDP Governors Forum.

However, the development is a big blow to the governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia who has already spent over N5 billion to make Suswam PDP National Chairman.

The agreement was that, should Suswam emerge as PDP Chairman, Governor Alia will decamp to the party and take full control of the party structures in Benue State in order to get a soft landing for the 2027 Governorship ticket on the party’s platform.

Meanwhile, Governor Alia had on Tuesday chartered two private jets for the burial of Senator Suswam’s mother-in-law. While one of the jets conveyed Governor Alia’s delegation to Ibadan for the burial programme which is ending on Saturday, the other one was used to convey Suswam’s friends and well wishers.
