Food Security: Abia first lady applauds Oluremi Tinubu over women inclusiveness, empowerment

The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been described as a true Pan African woman following her massive leadership prowess she initiated since her husband took over the mantle of leadership in less than a year ago.

Mrs. Priscilla Otti, the wife of the Abia State Governor, gave the commendation to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the president for empowering rural farmers with enhanced agricultural resources to booster food security nationwide.

Speaking at the Institute of Agricultural Business and Entrepreneurship in Okpu Umuobo, Osisiomangwa Local Government Area of Abia State, during the distribution of food items resources by the National Agricultural Land Development Authority in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Mrs. Otti emphasized the initiative’s contribution to enhancing livelihoods and empowering farmers nationwide.

The Abia First Lady represented by Mrs. Nkechi Chibueze, the Labour Party Woman Leader for Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, said Mrs. Otti welcomed the program as a significant step toward boosting agricultural output and ensuring ample food supply in the markets during the harvest season.

 

She stressed the importance of beneficiaries utilizing the improved seedlings for farming purposes rather than selling them.

Prince Paul Ikonne, the Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Land and Development Authority, highlighted that the initiative stemmed from President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to curbing inflation and ensuring food security.

He encouraged beneficiaries to return to farming to support the government’s efforts in alleviating hunger and addressing food shortages.

In response, Mrs. Catherine Wamah, representing the beneficiaries from Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, expressed gratitude to the federal government for the generous support and pledged to utilize the enhanced agricultural inputs to achieve a bumper harvest.

Over 700 beneficiaries from the 17 local government areas of the state participated in the program.
