Stakeholders in Toto local government area,  Nasarawa State and by extension Nigeria has expressed satisfaction on the community services been sustained by a renowned philanthropist, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammed Musa Maikaya.

The event which took place to mark the Christmas and New Year celebration attracted both indigenes and non indigened as well as people from all walks of life.

Alhaji (Dr) Muhammed Musa Maikaya who is the Chief Executive Officer, Maikaya Development Foundation, (MDF) a philanthropic and politician par excellence has been recognized for his numerous contributions to the development of Nasarawa State and his host community, Toto Local Government Area.

Dr. Musa Maikaya, an erstwhile 2019 governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State unlike other politicians who disappeared after losing out in a bid to get elected into office, has carved a niche for himself in areas of community development, youth mentorship and empowerment programs he initiated to carter for the most vulnerable across the State.

Maikaya Foundation was recognised for its efforts in touching lives with impactful community programmes across the State and had also received horde of awards for his dedication and commitment towards serving his people and humanity.

The Maikaya Foundation had just rounded up it’s 4th Edition of the Annual Football with participating teams teams showcasing their talent during the competition.

Our correspondent reports that “No Shaking Football Club” beat other teams to claimed the Trophy of the Maikaya Foundation Football Tournament.

The winning team No Shaking FC from Toto came first and was crowned Champions of the Tournament after defeating KOFA FC from same Area with a lone goal.

The occasion which had in attendance dignitaries within and outside Nasarawa State, include two House of Representatives members, assembly member, politicians, legal luminaries, business moguls and traditional rulers were also present to witnessed the historic event held on 1st January, 2024 in Toto town.

The participating clubs all did their best but only No Shaking FC and Kofa FC made it to the final stage of the tournament.

The No Shaking team was able to scored 1 goal in the first half against their opponent Kofa FC.

While KOFA FC were unable to equalize, NO SHAKING FC could not add to their goals as the two Teams showcased talent and skills on the field of play.

Football Enthusiasts, players and spectators were thrown into jubilation at the Centre School Field in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State as the Center Referee, blew the final whistle.

Trophies, Medals and Cash, were presented at the end of the match as spectators and other dignitaries shower praises on Maikaya Development Foundation for her commitment at organizing the annual sports Program.

The event which held inside the Central Pilot Primary School mini stadium, Toto LG, the Chief Operating Officer of the Maikaya Development Foundation, Comr. Shuaibu Sani, appreciated stakeholders for their contribution to the success of the tournament.

Sani who is a Senior Special Assistant, SSA, on Youth Development to Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, said the foundation had carried out series of programs over with aimed of rendering assistance to most vulnerable set in the society such as students, youths, women and even the elderly among others.

Sani in an interview with Journalists, disclosed that the 4th edition of Maikaya Development Foundation Tournament was organised by the Foundation in an effort to address youth restiveness, crime, unemployment, to attract meaningful development and as well ensure sustainable peace in the area.

According to Sani, the Maikaya Foundation prestigious high-profile event was also organized to showcasing and recognising excellence in football tournament, youth mentorship, empowerment and development.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the Maikaya Development Foundation, MDF, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammed Musa Maikaya, former All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, has explained why he set up the Maikaya Development Foundation Foundation for over 2 decades ago.

The Ciroma Toto explained in an interview with newsmen on Monday, 1st January, during a final football tournament organised by his foundation in Toto, the administrative headquarters of the council.

While speaking on the journey so far, Maikaya recall that when he clocked 50 years into his age in 2016, noting that the only reason that informed his decision to celebrate his birthday that was because he developed an idea to set up a foundation.

According to him, God has blessed him in life and the only way to give back to the society is to established a foundation to care for his people and beyond.

Maikaya who expressed joy that the Foundations’ aim of organizing the Football Tournament, mentoring youth and empowering the society was achieved, promising that the Foundation will continue to live up to expectations in the days ahead.

“Alhamdullilah! This is exactly what we foresaw – putting smiles on people’s faces, creating opportunity for youth to showcase their talents and strengthening unity amongst the people. These and more have been achieved by the mercies of Allah and through the commitment of Members of the Foundation, Committee Members, Partners, Participants and even the spectators

“As a Foundation we have a lot in stock for our people and we will continue to unravel them as year 2024 progresses. Similar Tournament will take place in Keffi and Nasarawa Local Government Council very soon

“Going forward, I advice the State Government, Well-to-do individuals and even Profit Making Organizations to partner with a real Foundation like ours (Maikaya Development Foundation) to enable them reach out to the people at the grassroots”, he stressed.

The Executive Chairman, Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, one of the social guests and friend of Maikaya led some group all the way from Kogi to graced the event.

Tanko, an award winning legal luminary praised Maikaya’s foresights at creating such opportunity for the youth to be engaged in positive venture at the Yuletide.

Barr. Tanko who formerly served as Chief Administrator of Kogi LG said the Tournament has not only served as an avenue for the youth to showcase their talents but has also strengthen unity and love among the people of the Area and those who came from both far and near to witness the finals of the Tournament.

The Legal Luminary calls for more support to enable the Organizers take the Tournament to greater standards.

The Chief Operating Officer of Maikaya Development Foundation, Comr. Shuaibu Sanni who doubles as the Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor on Youth Development, described the Sports Showpiece as a Dream come true for the Foundation and described Dr. Maikaya as a foresighted leader with the interest of the people at heart.

Other Dignitaries who spoke at the event including a Legal Luminary – Barr. Yakubu Galadima, Former Commissioner for Health in Nasarawa State – Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya, an Abuja-based Legal Luminary from Kogi Local Government Area, Barr. Umar Abdullahi, Mr. Abdullahi Usman and Toto Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Aliy Abdullahi Tashas, who was represented by his Deputy, Hon. Abubakar Haruna Kwanakis, among others, all praised the players for their commitment to the round leather games and commended Dr. Maikaya for continually hosting the Tournament.

They prayed to Allah to continue to strengthen him to do more in the years ahead as they also promised their support towards the success of upcoming Tournaments of the Foundation.

Our correspondent who was on the ground through out the event report that apart from football talents by teams that made it to finals and presentation of prizes to deserving teams, cultural interludes by various tribes in Toto LG also added colours to the success of the occasion as they displayed their cultural heritage to the admiration of sports enthusiasts.
